Policies and Procedures
This page outlines the key policies and procedures of Lighter Learning CIC. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment for every child and family.
1. Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
Lighter Learning CIC is dedicated to protecting all children from harm. Our comprehensive Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is designed to ensure the well-being and safety of every learner. All staff members are trained in safeguarding procedures and hold a valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is responsible for handling and reporting any child protection concerns. We work in partnership with parents and relevant external agencies to act in the best interests of the child.
2. Health and Safety Policy
We are committed to maintaining a healthy and safe environment for all learners and staff. Our premises are regularly risk-assessed, and all equipment is maintained to a high standard. We have clear procedures in place for emergencies, including fire and first aid. All staff are first aid trained, and a first aid kit is readily available.
3. Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policy
Our aim is to create a positive and respectful learning environment. We expect all learners to treat each other and staff with kindness and respect. Our policy is based on positive reinforcement, clear boundaries, and understanding. We have a zero-tolerance approach to bullying in any form. All incidents of bullying will be taken seriously and investigated immediately, with a focus on resolution, support for the victim, and education for the aggressor.
4. Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Policy
Lighter Learning specialises in supporting neurodiverse children and those with additional needs. Our SEND policy ensures that every child receives a personalised education plan tailored to their specific needs, interests, and learning style. We work closely with parents and external professionals to provide the appropriate support and resources to help each child reach their full potential.
5. Complaints Procedure
We are committed to providing a high-quality service and welcome feedback. If you have a concern or complaint, we encourage you to first discuss it with your child’s primary teacher. If the issue remains unresolved, you can submit a formal complaint in writing to our head office. We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 business days and aim to provide a full response within 15 business days.
6. Confidentiality Policy
All personal information, including details about your child’s needs and progress, is treated with the utmost confidentiality. We will not share any personal information with third parties without your explicit consent, unless there is a safeguarding concern or we are legally required to do so. Our staff are trained to respect and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
7. Attendance and Punctuality Policy
Regular attendance is vital for a child’s progress and to ensure they gain the most from our programmes. We ask that parents notify us in advance if their child will be absent. While we understand that unforeseen circumstances may occur, consistent punctuality and attendance help maintain a stable and effective learning environment for all.
